These Additional California Privacy Disclosures supplement the information contained in the WaterEquity Privacy Policy. These Disclosures apply only to our processing of your Personal Information for individuals residing in California. Unless otherwise expressly stated, terms in these Disclosures have the same meaning as defined in the WaterEquity Privacy Policy.
SHINE THE LIGHT
California Civil Code Section 1798.83, also known as the “Shine The Light” law, permits our users who are California residents to request and obtain from us, once a year and free of charge, information about categories of Personal Information (if any) we disclosed to third parties for direct marketing purposes and the names and addresses of all third parties with which we disclosed Personal Information in the immediately preceding calendar year. If you are a California resident and would like to make such a request, please submit your request in writing to us using the contact information provided below.
The types of personal information we collect can be found in the “WHAT INFORMATION DO WE COLLECT?” section of the WaterEquity Privacy Policy.
The manner in which we collect that information is described in the “WHERE DO WE COLLECT INFORMATION FROM?” section of the WaterEquity Privacy Policy.
We use Personal Information as described in the “HOW DO WE USE YOUR INFORMATION?” section of the WaterEquity Privacy Policy.
We retain your information as described in the “HOW DO WE RETAIN YOUR INFORMATION?” section of the WaterEquity Privacy Policy.
We have not sold consumer information for any monetary value. However, our use of cookies, advertising and tracking technologies may be a “sale” under certain U.S. state consumer privacy laws. This use of tracking technologies may also constitute “sharing” under certain U.S. state consumer privacy laws. We may share the following categories of Personal Information with a targeted advertising service provider or partner: Direct Identifiers, Geolocation Data, Sensitive Personal Information, and Internet Activity Information. WHAT ARE YOUR RIGHTS?
If you are a California resident, you may be entitled to certain rights. These rights are described below:
- Right to know: You have the right to know whether we collect and use your Personal Information; the categories of Personal Information that we collect; the purposes for which the collected Personal Information is used; whether we share your Personal Information with third parties; the categories of Personal Information that we disclosed for a business purpose; the categories of third parties to whom the Personal Information was disclosed for a business purpose; and the business or commercial purpose for collecting or sharing Personal Information.
- Right to correct: You have the right to request that we correct inaccurate Personal Information that we maintain about you.
- Right to delete: You can ask for the deletion of your Personal Information. If you ask us to delete your Personal Information, we will respect your request and delete your Personal Information, subject to certain exceptions provided by law, such as (but not limited to) the exercise by another consumer of his or her right to free speech, our compliance requirements resulting from a legal obligation or any processing that may be required to protect against illegal activities. In accordance with applicable law, we are not obligated to provide or delete consumer information that is de-identified in response to a consumer request or to re-identify individual data to verify a consumer request.
- Right to opt out of sale or sharing of your Personal Information: You have the right to opt out of the sharing of your Personal Information.
- Right to non-discrimination for the exercise of your rights: We will not discriminate against you if you exercise your privacy rights.
EXERCISING YOUR RIGHTS

You can designate an authorized agent to make a request on your behalf. We may deny a request from an authorized agent that does not submit proof that they have been validly authorized to act on your behalf in accordance with applicable law.
Upon receiving your request, we will need to verify your identity to confirm that we you’re your personal information. These verification efforts require us to ask you to provide information so that we can match it with information you have previously provided us. For instance, depending on the type of request you submit, we may ask you to provide certain information so that we can match the information you provide with the information we already have on file, or we may contact you through a communication method (e.g. phone or email) that you have previously provided to us. We may also use other verification methods as the circumstances dictate.
We will only use Personal Information provided in your request to verify your identity or authority to make the request. To the extent possible, we will avoid requesting additional information from you for the purposes of verification. If, however, we cannot verify your identity from the information already maintained by us, we may request that you provide additional information for the purposes of verifying your identity, and for security or fraud-prevention purposes. We will delete such additionally provided information as soon as we finish verifying you.
CHANGES TO THESE DISCLOSURES
We may update these Disclosures from time to time. When we make changes to these Disclosures, we will change the date at the beginning of these Disclosures to include the “Last Updated” date. If we make material changes to this Policy, we will, to the extent required by applicable law, notify you by email to your registered email address, by prominent posting on our online services, or through other appropriate communication channels. All changes shall be effective from the date of publication unless otherwise provided in the notification.
