Aleem Remtula heads WaterEquity’s private equity and infrastructure investments, focusing on water access, sanitation, and climate resilience. With over 20 years in impact investing, he has managed over $140M in investments across emerging markets in areas like financial inclusion, WASH, gender, healthcare, and education.
Prior to joining WaterEquity, Aleem was a partner and co-head of private equity at Developing World Markets, an emerging and frontier markets impact investment manager, leading the firm’s growth equity investments in banks and non-bank financial institutions globally. Aleem has also held various roles at Impact Investing firms like the New York City Investment Fund, Bridges Fund Management and Living Cities. Aleem started his career in corporate finance with JP Morgan covering diversified industrial and transportation clients. He’s served on multiple boards for private and publicly listed companies and non-profits across several countries including the US, India, Sri Lanka, China, Georgia and Armenia.
Aleem holds a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and Finance from Princeton University and an MBA from Harvard Business School
