Julie Cheng is a member of WaterEquity’s Investment Committee. She evaluates investments based on their alignment with the risk, financial return, and impact objectives of the funds. She also supports oversight of client performance and provides input on investment strategy and policy including changes in climate regulations which may impact investment decisions and client performance.

Julie’s career in impact investing is focused on financial inclusion for underserved communities in developing countries. More recently she has focused on mobilizing climate financing for smallholder farmers and agri-SMEs with IFAD (International Fund for Agricultural Development) the U.N. agency focused on agricultural development. She also participates on working groups for Climate Policy Initiative’s Global Innovation Lab for Climate Finance and sits on the Investment Committee of MCE Social Capital. Julie started her journey in impact investing working with microfinance institutions in Kenya and Haiti and served as a Senior Analyst and Director at BlueOrchard Finance responsible for Africa, Asia, the Balkans and the Middle East.  

Julie holds a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Cornell University, Ithaca, New York, and a Masters in Business Administration from the University of California, Haas School of Business.
